On being a trucker.

I enjoyed this piece's plain but intruiging talk in seemingly mundane details of life, particularily on a fascination with industrial and mechanical objects in the world. I enjoy the sense of childhood wonder it instills in me as I'm reminded of watching in amazement machines we don't often reference or see, but carry tremendous power and wonder with them. My personal favorite was when the narrator talks about a wrecking ball and her fascination with it.

As a whole, the piece does a great job at conveying interesting and somewhat emotional images with simplistic and carefully chosen language. The language is almost that of, "This exists." and "This is how it exists." while not needing to delve any further into supposed meaning. The statements themselves are intruiging enough, as I feel they are things we don't tend to think about in our circles of life or past a certain age.

  1. I agree and liked that this took a childlike point of view. It was fun to read and didn't have a concrete point it was trying to jam into my head. Which is always a good thing.
